For the second season in a row Georgina’s Toronto Blue Jays fans have travelled to the Rogers Centre to see the Toronto Blue Jays win a 4-5 nail-biter.“It was fantastic” said fan Ken Clodd “they won for us with the same score last year!”  After successfully requesting Town Council to officially declare Saturday, September 25th as “Blue Jays Day” in Georgina, Georgina Arts Centre (GAC) Executive Director, Heather Fullerton, spoke with Toronto Blue Jays Baseball club to arrange seats for a bus load of fans to travel to down Canada’s sole MLB stadium for a day of memories.“They won – it’s my first baseball game ever!” screamed 8 year old Alicia Lee who travelled down with her mom, Tina.  Decked out in face paint, a new Jays hat and foam hand, and a GAC poster to wave, Alicia was thrilled to see her heroes.Front row seats in right field gave Georgina fans the chance to yell out to the Jays new home run record holder, Jose Bautista.  “Look, he smiled at us!” yelled a delighted Pefferlaw fan. With an outstanding walk-off home run by Lyle Overbay in the bottom of the eleventh that came close to landing in their midst, the Georgina fans were happy to climb back on the bus and chat contentedly all the way home. “Next year we’re doing two trips” says Ms Fullerton. “June sounds like a good month for the first one – get on the waiting list now because the bus will be full!”  The Toronto Blue Jays have supported the Georgina Arts Centre & Gallery’s children’s programs for a number of years by way of prize gifts and auction items.  “We wanted to return the favor and, besides, it’s a great excuse to see a great game of ball with a great bunch of people.”The Jays swept the three-game weekend series with the Baltimore Orioles.
