Much like the art that The Georgina Art Centre & Gallery represents, the Staff & Board of Directors are diverse in their backgrounds and their individual connections to The Arts.
Grant Peckford has been a service provider in York Region for many years. He began his career as the Education Coordinator for the School By the Water at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre - Canada's Premiere Arts and Cultural Center - hosting more that 4,000 events each year in disciplines such as theatre, dance, literature, music, film, visual arts and crafting.
Grant has over 40 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector, including over 15 years in Executive Management. His experience includes working with children and youth through the 'Mentoring for The Peer' Project, 'Youth Assisting Youth', offering programs in Toronto and York Region, 'Big Brothers and Sisters of York' in Aurora, and most recently working with adult learners at The Learning Centre for Georgina in Keswick. In addition, Grant has provided training in a variety of personal development programs for Sutton's own Georgina Trades Training Inc. In October of 2017, Grant joined the Georgina Life Rogers TV show that serves as a platform for the promotion of community events in the region.
Grant is experienced in developing and implementing innovative community based services and programs in consultation with key stakeholders, as well as working comfortably with a volunteer Board of Directors and in providing analysis and advice to executive committees. He has also demonstrated ability to initiate and foster robust partnerships and strategic alliances with government, community partners and key stakeholders for the effective delivery of programs and services.
Grant is a graduate of the Teacher of Adults program at Centennial College and the Certified Life Skills Coaching Program at George Brown College. Grant is a Certified Trainer and Facilitator in Education and Social Services. He has dedicated himself and his career to the community and continues to do so in his new journey.
